The Roswell Park Alliance Foundation is seeking volunteers, ages 18 and older, for a biking fund-raiser -- the 8th annual Ride for Roswell -- sponsored by Wegmans on June 28 at Baird Point, University at Buffalo.

Volunteers are needed at registration, rest stops, the finish line and the post-ride bash. Volunteer teams of two to four persons are also sought for the Ride's "Adopt a Corner" program. It's a great way to join in the excitement of an event that features more than 2,000 cyclists. All proceeds benefit cancer research and patient care at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. For rider registration and volunteer details, visit or call 845-8788.

Harris Hill Nursing Facility, 2699 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville, and Northgate Health Care Facility, 7264 Nash Road, North Tonawanda, sponsor several projects in which volunteers can participate.

There are possibilities for all ages, starting with a volunteer-in-training program for those 12 to 16; a junior program for those 16 to 18; an internship program for students; and an adult volunteer program. All volunteers receive orientation training. Opportunities are available in accounting, activities, administration, marketing, medical records, physical and occupational therapies and social work, as well as assistance with special events and field trips. To set up an interview, contact Linda Christ, volunteer services coordinator, at 826-2011, Ext. 122.

For information on other volunteer activities, call the Volunteer Center of the United Way at 887-2690 or visit its Web site at
