James R. McKnight, 48, who worked as a serviceman at Delphi Harrison Thermal Systems until retiring in October, died Monday (May 19, 2003) in his Lockport home after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Lockport, was a graduate of Lockport High School and attended Niagara County Community College in Sanborn.
McKnight began working at Delphi Harrison in 1976. He was also the code enforcement officer and fire inspector for the Town of Lockport for many years.
McKnight was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He also was a member of Local 686 United Auto Workers, South Lockport Volunteer Fire Company and Diamond Golf League. He was a NASCAR enthusiast and an avid hunter and sportsman.
Survivors include his wife, the former Denise Farrell; a son, Jonathan J.; his mother, Sally E.; and a sister, Karen Zima, all of Lockport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John the Baptist Church, 168 Chestnut St., with prayers at 9:30 in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. Burial will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
