Frederick William Recktenwald, 74, of Berwyn, Pa., a longtime salesman with ITT American Standard in Buffalo, died Saturday (May 17, 2003) in Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital, Philadelphia.
Born in Buffalo, Recktenwald was a graduate of South Park High School. He earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Canisius College and took additional courses in engineering at the University at Buffalo. He was an Army veteran of the Japanese occupation.
Recktenwald worked for 39 years as a regional sales manager for American Standard, which manufactured heat-transfer equipment, before retiring in 1992.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, the former Doris Avery; two daughters, Sharon Lynn Conroy of Wayne, Pa., and Sandra Jean Cook of Brea, Calif.; two sons, Martin P. of Berwyn and Robert F. of Rochester; a sister, Mary Ellen Harsch of Clarence; two brothers, John of Batavia and Richard of Williamsville; and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, Wayne. Burial will be private.
