Susan E. Harrington, of Middleport, an accomplished seamstress, died Saturday (May 17, 2003) in Highland Hospital, Rochester. She was 71.
She had lived in Middleport since 1976, when she moved from Cheektowaga.
Born Susan Kelley in Indiana, Pa., she had taught religious education at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Middleport, where she also was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Banner and Vestment Committee. She also was active with the Chestnut Twig of Medina Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed crewel work, embroidery, quilting and other crafts.
Survivors include her husband, John F.; four sons, John F. Jr. of West Shelby, James P. of Duluth, Ga., Charles J. of Glen Allen, Va., and Joseph P. of Middleport; a daughter, Julie Ann Winner of Brockport; a brother, Bernard L. Kelley of Pinehurst, N.C.; two sisters, Ruth Izzo of Burlington, Vt., and Rita O'Hare of Sebring, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Stephen's Church, Vernon Street, Middleport. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
