STEVEN L. BENNETT, DRAFTSMAN, DESIGNER

A memorial service for Steven L. Bennett, 46, an employee of MDS Matrix Medical in Orchard Park for 23 years, was held today in Trinity United Methodist Church, Amherst. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Westfield.

Bennett, who was born in Buffalo, died Tuesday (May 13, 2003) in his Alden home after a long illness.

He graduated from Kenmore East High School in 1975 and attended Erie Community College.

Bennett worked as a draftsman for medical equipment at MDS Matrix Medical until failing health caused him to take a leave of absence. He also had worked for Suburban Design and helped design the Metro Rail system.

Bennett, who was active in Boy Scouting, enjoyed hunting in the Sherman area and fishing in Chautauqua Lake.

Survivors include a daughter, Julie, who is serving in the Navy, based in Italy; two sons, Robert and Christopher, both of Corfu; his former wife, Karen Neuer of Corfu; his father and stepmother, Lester and Shirley Bennett, both of the Town of Tonawanda; a sister, Jill Emblidge of Churchville; and two brothers, Allan of Meadville, Pa., and Dana of Forestville.
