Bernice Hunley, a homemaker, died Wednesday (May 14, 2003) in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 77.
Born Bernice Edwards in Jefferson County, Alabama, she attended school in Deatsville, Ala.
She married Harvey L. Hunley in 1947 and moved to Buffalo in 1948. During her first years in Buffalo, she worked for Bison Distributing on Hertel Avenue.
She was active in Unity Baptist Church. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaining and fishing with her husband.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Jetaun of Buffalo; a sister, Rosa Lee Vaughn of Detroit; a brother, Willie Hue Edwards of Cleveland; six grandsons; and a great-grandson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Unity Baptist Church, 183 Sycamore St. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Hamburg.
