YORKSHIRE -- Pioneer School District's fifth-grade Cadet Band will perform its second concert at 7 p.m. May 29 in the Arcade Elementary School auditorium.

The sixth-grade Merit Band and the seventh- and eighth-grade Symphonic Band will join the Cadet Band. School officials said the bands will combine for one piece and have guests to end the concert.

The Cadet Band has had two local musicians give master classes for other band members. The musicians are Nadine Gardiner on trumpet and Anne Hofmann on clarinet.

Several Pioneer High School band members also have worked with the band this year. They include Kyle Sechrist on trumpet, Sarah Sumski on oboe, Meghan McDaniels on clarinet, Michelle Keem on bassoon and Bethanie Keem on French horn.

JCC Women's Expo set for June 12

Jamestown Community College's annual Women's Expo, an event designed to "enrich, enlighten and empower women," will be held on the campus from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 12.

Professional actress and communications facilitator Karen Abrami will present the keynote address, "The Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins With One Step," at 8:30 a.m.

The day also will include informational sessions on topics including "Women With Vision: Investing for Your Future," "Yoga for Women" and "Avoid the Bad Habits That Hold Good People Back." A $59 registration fee includes a continental breakfast and lunch. Registration materials and information are available at 665-5220. The deadline to register is June 6.

Camping resort to expand with U.S. aid

FRANKLINVILLE -- Triple R Camping Resort and Trailer Sales on Bryant Hill Road soon will expand its 130-site facility with assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development's Business and Industry Guaranteed Loan Program.

The camping area received approval last week for backing for a loan from Cattaraugus County Bank in Little Valley.

Work on the expansion project will be done in four phases, to add 104 new campsites to the resort. Currently, 118 of the campsites are served by utilities and 12 are not. Owner Laurie Evans calculates that the facility currently averages 371 campers per week during the six months they are open. Three jobs will be retained and 1.5 created as a result of this project.

Perry men charged with felony assault

WARSAW -- Two Perry men have been charged with felony assault following the investigation of a fight last month, Wyoming County sheriff's deputies reported Friday.

Scott F. Kelly, 29, and Kevin C. Tiuch, 28, were taken into custody hours apart Friday, Investigator Edward Till said.

The two allegedly were involved in an April 24 fight at a Town of Perry establishment during which a 35-year-old Pike man suffered multiple broken bones in his face.

Following arraignments in Perry Town Court, both were released pending further court action July 23.
