PUBLIC MEETINGS IN LOCAL COMMUNITIES THIS WEEK

Town Board members will consider a proposal for a lockbox tax collection service for property taxes at a 7:30 meeting Monday in Council Chambers in Town Hall, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.
Also this week:
Town officials will discuss a record management grant Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Town Board committee room.
The Supervisor's Youth Council will meet at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Williamsville Village Hall, 5565 Main St., Williamsville.
The Williamsville School Board will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium of Mill Middle School, 505 Mill St. The special meeting will be followed by a hearing on the board's $121 million budget proposal at 6:30 and a School Board candidates forum sponsored by the PTA Council at 7:30.

Aurora

The East Aurora Village Board meets at 7 p.m. Monday in Village Hall, Main and Paine streets.
Also this week:
The East Aurora School Board is holding a budget hearing at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday on the proposed $22.8 million budget, which raises spending by 2.88 percent for next year. The projected tax rate increase is 5.9 percent. The hearing will be held in the library of the Main Street School, 430 Main St.

Boston

The Town Board will meet at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday for an agenda review, followed by its regular meeting at 7:30, in Town Hall, 8500 Boston State Road.

The Conservation Advisory Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Town Hall.

Buffalo

The Common Council will meet in special session at 10 a.m. Monday. Lawmakers are expected to give themselves an extra two weeks to pass a new spending plan.

The budget process was abruptly suspended Friday in light of continued uncertainties over state aid to help finance restructuring in the police and fire departments. City officials said approving a spending plan that does not include accelerated state aid and state loans would trigger a large property tax increase or massive job cuts.

The meeting will be held in Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall.

The Council's Civil Service Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.

The Council's Community Development Committee will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.
The Council's Legislation Committee will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.
The Urban Renewal Agency will meet at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Room 209 of City Hall.

Cheektowaga

The Cheektowaga-Sloan, Cheektowaga Central and Cleveland Hill school boards will conduct hearings on their proposed 2003-04 budgets. The hearing in Sloan will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the boardroom of Woodrow Wilson School, 166 Halstead Ave. The Central hearing will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the boardroom of the Junior/Senior High School, 3600 Union Road. The Cleveland Hill hearing will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the library of the elementary school, 105 Mapleview Road.

The Town Board will conduct a regular meeting, starting with a public comment period at 6:45 p.m. Monday, in Council Chambers in Town Hall, Broadway and Union Road.
The Traffic Safety Commission will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Council Chambers.
The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers.

Clarence

The Planning Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Town Hall, One Town Place off Goodrich Road. A work session at 6:30 will precede the regular meeting.

Depew

The Depew School Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday on its proposed 2003-04 school budget in the auditorium of Depew High School, 5201 S. Transit Blvd.

Elma

The Town Board will hold a regular meeting at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Town Hall, 1910 Bowen Road.

Erie County

The County Legislature will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday in Old County Hall, 92 Franklin St., second floor, Part VI of the former State Supreme Court.

Evans

The Town Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Town Hall, 8787 Erie Road, Angola.
Also this week:
The Lake Shore School Board will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school, 950 Beach Road, Angola, to hear architects' presentations on the district's proposed capital project. The $10 million-plus project would take care of a myriad of the district's repair needs. Lake Shore officials have projected they can do the project at no extra cost to local taxpayers.
The Angola Village Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been rescheduled for June 2.

Hamburg

The Frontier Central School Board will hold a public hearing on next year's budget at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Frontier Educational Center, 5120 Orchard Ave. A regular board meeting will follow the hearing.

The Town Board will include a "Livable Communities" presentation in its work session from 6:10 to 7:10 p.m. Monday. It will explore ways to improve quality of life and other issues in the town. Residents are encouraged to attend the presentation in Town Hall, S-6100 South Park Ave.
The Village Board will hold a work session at 6 p.m. Monday in Village Hall, 100 Main St. The work session will be followed by a regular meeting at 7.

Lackawanna

The City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in Council Chambers of City Hall, following a 6:30 work session.

The Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria of the Middle School, 550 Martin Road. A work session is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday in the same location.
The Board of Education will hold a public hearing on its proposed 2003-04 budget at 7 p.m. Friday in the cafeteria of the high school, 550 Martin Road.

Lancaster

The Student Union of Lancaster High School will host a School Board candidates forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium of the high school, 1 Forton Drive.

At 7, district officials will hold a public hearing on the 2003-04 budget. That will be followed by a regular board meeting at 8:30.

Orchard Park

The Orchard Park School Board will hold a public hearing on the 2003-04 budget at 7 p.m. Tuesday in district offices, 3330 Baker Road. A regular board meeting will immediately follow.

The Town Board will conduct a public hearing on proposed new dog control laws when it meets at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Municipal Center, 4295 S. Buffalo St.
The Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Municipal Center.
