Estella Johnson, 72, known as "Marie," died Wednesday (May 14, 2003) in St. Francis Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born Estella Ladd in Ohio, she graduated from Fairmount High School in Cleveland and moved to Buffalo in 1954.
She worked for Truly Magic for many years in a manufacturing job.
She loved to play bingo.
Her husband, Clifford, died last year.
Survivors include 10 daughters, Alicia Grier, Mary Bryant and Colette Ladd, all of Cleveland, and Madeline Ladd, Floye Truman, Leta Ladd, Ladean Ladd-McMayo, Tina Ladd, Michelle Ladd and a stepdaughter, Amber Johnson, all of Buffalo; six sons, Burton Ladd, Robert Ladd, Thomas Ladd, James Ladd, Michael Ladd and Gerald Ladd, all of Buffalo; 28 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at noon today in Promiseland Baptist Church, 227 High St.
