John T. Bertell, 72, of Williamsville, an attorney since 1955, died unexpectedly Friday (Nov. 29, 2002) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst.
He was a partner in the law firm of Koren, Bertell and Hoey, and of counsel to the law firm of Watson, Bennett, Colligan, Johnson and Schechter.
He graduated from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute, Canisius College and the University of Buffalo Law School.
He was a past director of the Western New York Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the Erie County Bar Association.
Bertell also was a past president of Brookfield Country Club.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; two daughters, Elizabeth Franke of Philadelphia and Kathleen Schaefer of Williamsville; three sons, John T. Jr. of Hartford, Conn., Paul of Miami and Peter of Atlanta; two sisters, Sister Rosalie of the Grey Nuns in Buffalo and Mary of Williamsville; and 14 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph University Heights Catholic Church, 3269 Main St. Burial will be in United German and French Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
