Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m.: Readings by Alice Notley and Diane Glancy. Notley is one of the most important voices of the "New York School" of poets. Her most recent book, "Disobedience," won the 2002 Griffin Poetry Prize, one of Canada's leading literary awards, while her 1998 collection, "Mysteries of Small Houses," was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. Glancy, who is of Cherokee and German/English heritage, is an American Book Award winning poet ("Iron Woman"), short story writer ("Trigger Dance"), novelist ("Designs of the Sky") and essayist ("Claiming Breath") who has emerged as leading voice among Native American writers.
