When Andrew Hoeft of East Aurora saw "Les Miserables" on Broadway in May, he immediately fell in love with the musical. He was thoroughly impressed with the actors, the props and the singing.
The 8-year-old told his mother, "Someday I'm going to be a part of that."
Someday came a lot more quickly than many might have thought.
You can now find Andrew four or five times a week playing Gavroche in "Les Miserables" on Broadway. He sings three songs, including "Little People." Andrew, who is home-schooled, shares the role with another actor. There are eight or nine performances a week.
Andrew made his Broadway debut Nov. 20, and the long-running play is scheduled to close March 16.
After winning many competitions in the International Modeling and Talent Association last year, Andrew has been busy working with talent agencies and has been auditioning for roles since then, which led him to the "Les Miserables" audition.
Before Broadway, Andrew did a little acting and modeling in Western New York, including Tuxedo Junction wedding shows.
Andrew said being part of a Broadway play is more fun than he had imagined. He loves seeing his name in Playbill and revels in the standing ovations at the end of each show.
