Lena Marchetti, 87, died Thursday (Nov. 28, 2002) in Gowanda Nursing Home after a long illness. Mrs. Marchetti had been a patient of assisted living facilities and the nursing home for the past seven years.
She was born Lena Roberti in Sudbury, Ont., where she attended school. She moved to Niagara Falls as a young woman.
A former Norwood Avenue resident, Mrs. Marchetti was a lifelong homemaker who enjoyed cooking.
Her husband of 36 years, Louis, died in 1971.
Survivors include three daughters, Louise Bednarski of Youngstown, Barbara Bongiovanni of Niagara Falls and Jacqueline Drennan of Clarence; one son, Louis R. of Ransomville; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Monday in Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1055 N. Military Road, with prayers at 11:30 a.m. in Lane Funeral Home, 8622 Buffalo Ave. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston.
