Yellow No. 5 and Skungk were two of the area's most popular -- and best -- hard-core/metal bands. They're both officially gone now, but some of the guys who made music in those bands are back and playing together as Five Years Gone. The band showcases the raw power of singer T.J. Frost (ex-Yellow No. 5), drummer Dan Nelligan and bassist Steve Crowl (both formerly with Skungk) and guitarist Carl Pace. The music, as expected, is straightforward and intense; dealing with personal journeys of struggles and triumph. See the debut of Five Years Gone when the band opens for Boston-based hard-core act Diecast, along with the End, Avulsion and Assemble the Remains, in an all-ages concert at 6 p.m. Saturday in Classic Roxx Cafe, Cheektowaga. Admission is $7.
Visits with Greg
Greg Klyma is taking time from another of his road trips to settle back home and finish material for his next recording. On Wednesday and Dec. 11 and 18, Klyma will perform solo acoustic at 9 p.m. in the Coffee Bean Cafe, 3260 Main St. And, every Tuesday for the rest of the year, you're invited to Frizzy's Bar and Grill, 140 Allen St., for a "Town Meeting." Since Klyma is offering little by way of description, we're not sure what it's all about. Our only hint: He says to show up with "some issues." (http://klyma.com)
