Buffalo

Beast Feast: At the Buffalo Zoo, 300 Parkside Ave., a holiday celebration will focus on the different types of diets the zoo maintains for its animals. There will be scheduled feedings throughout the day. Zoo hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $7 for ages 15 and older, $3.50 for children, $3 for seniors.

Family fun: "Wild Days"; noon to 3 p.m., Broadway Market, 999 Broadway. Featured are crafts, snacks, door prizes and "Wild Encounters" with Jarod Miller, 1:30 to 2:30. For information, call 891-8083.

Hamburg

Cat show: Buffalo Cat Fanciers will present an Allbreed CFA Cat Show featuring more than 300 cats in competition in eight judging rings running simultaneously; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., also Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Represented in the show will be 36 breeds. Also, the SPCA will show the Whisker Wagon on Saturday with animals available for adoption. The Buffalo Animal Shelter will be there Sunday with its adoption van. There will also be an appearance by Jarod Miller of Wildlife Encounters both days. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children and seniors, and $12 for families of two adults and two children.

Lackawanna

Workshop: Literacy Volunteers of Buffalo and Erie County will host a free naturalization workshop; 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Lackawanna Public Library, 560 Ridge Road. Sponsored by Western New York Citizenship Express, a program of Journey's End Refugee Services. Eligibility interviews will follow a one-hour presentation. Lancaster

North Tonawanda

Holiday tea: Victorian decorations, clothes and customs; seatings at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., YWCA, 49 Tremont St. The tea will be served with traditional accompaniments, finger sandwiches, scones and cookies, and a brief history on linens and lace. Attendees are encouraged to wear period dress. Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for nonmembers. Preregistration is required. Call 692-5580.

Holiday Garden: Inaugural event at the Botanical Gardens and Greenhouse, Sweeney Street near Robinson Road, will include lighting of the greenhouse and part of the park, hayrides, holiday treats, and a visit with Santa and his elf beginning at 6 p.m. Students from the Buffalo Suzuki Strings will perform from 6:30 to 7:15. Open Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m., Fridays from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 5 to 9 p.m., and Sundays from 5 to 8 p.m., through Dec. 22. There is no charge for viewing the Holiday Garden, but donations will be accepted for the North Tonawanda Food Pantry.

Sanborn

Fund-raiser: Live country music, a cash bar and food are all part of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9011 Country Dance Fund-Raiser; 8 p.m. to midnight, Wheatfield Post American Legion, 6525 Ward Road. Tickets are $5.
