Raymond J. Sessman Sr., a rural letter carrier and Sanborn resident, died Sept. 26, 2002, at his home in Davie, Fla., after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 83.

He was born in Lawrence, Mass., and moved to Niagara Falls as a child, where he attended local schools.

Sessman was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural letter carrier for many years, retiring in 1978. He was an exempt member of Sanborn Volunteer Fire Company.

He moved from Sanborn to Davie following his retirement.

His wife of 48 years, former Faye Kline, predeceased him.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond J. Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Ronald E. of Sanborn; a daughter, Barbara Diebold of North Tonawanda; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

A committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Acacia Park Cemetery, 4215 Tonawanda Creek Road, Pendleton.
