PATRICK H. CAPPELLO, ATTORNEY, FILMMAKER

A Mass of Christian Burial for Patrick H. Cappello of Elma, a retired attorney, was offered Monday in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Springbrook. Burial was in the church cemetery.

He died Nov. 20, 2002, in Father Baker Manor, Orchard Park, after a long illness. He was 76.

Born in Buffalo, he attended School 19 and was a graduate of Burgard High School and the University of Buffalo. He earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 1951. He maintained a solo practice in general law, first in Ellicott Square in downtown Buffalo, then in his home in Elma, until he retired in 1994.

He was a member of the Erie County and New York State bar associations.

He had a deep, lifelong interest in cinematography, particularly 16mm sound films. He made hundreds of them and won several awards.

A life member and past president of the Buffalo Movie and Video Makers, he co-hosted a 14-week program on WNED-TV about home movies and wrote a book on the subject, "Life in a Movie Club."

Active in St. Vincent de Paul Church, he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society.

Surviving is a brother, John of Orchard Park.
