Services for Louise Howard, a retired Roswell Park Cancer Institute housekeeper, were held today in New Covenant United Church of Christ, 459 Clinton St. She was 83.

Born Louise Johnson, she died Saturday (Nov. 23, 2002) in her Buffalo home.

She retired from Roswell Park in 1991 after 16 years. She was a member of the Usher Board, Missionary Board and Women's Fellowship of the New Covenant Church.

Her husband of 17 years, Herman, died in 1955.

She is survived by six of her 11 children -- three daughters, Elizabeth Goodrum, Elaine Stroud and Michelle Reed, all of Buffalo; three sons, Jerome Henderson of Providence, R.I., and Derick Howard and Wahad Arzeyz, both of Buffalo; 30 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in St. Matthews Cemetery, West Seneca.
