Two in head-on collision remain hospitalized
WELLSVILLE -- Two people remain in Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo, with injuries suffered in a head-on crash on Route 417 in Ceres, Pa., Friday night.
Wellsville troopers said Robert Mallery, 53, of Shinglehouse, Pa., was in critical condition, and Eleanor Griffin, 58, of Hornell, was in fair condition.
Troopers said Mallery lost control of his sport utility vehicle and collided head-on with the van Griffin was driving.
Mallery, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. He suffered a fractured neck, a broken leg and a punctured lung, troopers said. Griffin suffered possible neck injuries.
Troopers said they have charged Mallery with DWI, driving without a seat belt, failure to keep right and speed not reasonable and prudent.
