The Nov. 17 News article, "A lurking danger?," really got my attention. The News stated that officials in Ashford are worried about a possible threat posed by two train cars loaded with nuclear waste. A photo above the article showed two covered rail cars containing nuclear waste that have remained at the West Valley Demonstration Project since last summer. Security at the site, once the country's only commercial nuclear fuel reprocessing facility, has been beefed up.
With all the concerns since 9/1 1 about places that might be of interest to al-Qaida terrorists, who may be planning to strike again, and America trying to protect citizens from terrorist activities, perhaps the media should give more consideration to the kinds of stories it prints. Rather than giving out information so freely, I suggest The News not invite terrorist attacks in an area where an alleged terrorist cell has already been discovered.
