Cheektowaga Central High School students will be spending the night outdoors tonight for the fifth annual sleep-out for the homeless.
The school's Challenge Team, which promotes wellness, healthy lifestyles and leadership development, is sponsoring the event, taking place from 9 p.m. today to 7 a.m. Saturday.
Students will be sleeping outside in boxes and warming themselves by fire barrels.
Students are accepting monetary donations for the event. Proceeds will be donated to the Friends of Night People in the memory of Cheektowaga police Detective Wasyl "Bill" Potienko, who was killed three weeks ago.
