Gloria N. Carbin, 69, of Niagara Falls, longtime owner-operator of Gloria Beauty Salon, died Wednesday (Nov. 20, 2002) in Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo after a long illness.
Born Gloria Ellerington in Niagara Falls, she graduated from Niagara Falls High School and continued on to Buffalo Beauty School. She owned and operated Gloria Beauty Salon for 20 years.
She later worked for Carborundum for 10 years as an assembler.
She attended St. Leo's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Dale Association, Wheatfield Seniors and Order of the Eastern Star. She also volunteered at Artpark in Lewiston.
Her husband of 48 years, James A., died in 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Cherree Irving of Sanborn and Sharon Maggio of Rome, N.Y.; a son, James of Tennessee; two brothers, Rich Ellerington and James Ellerington, both of Niagara Falls; a sister, Linda Spina of Niagara Falls; and nine grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday in Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Leo's Catholic Church, 2478 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
