A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Salvation Army Buffalo Citadel Corps, 960 Main St., for Tracy Ross Piller, 40.
The former Buffalo resident died Oct. 5, 2001, in Spokane, Wash., after a long battle with cancer.
Piller loved all types of music. He played cornet with the Salvation Army brass bands.
He worked in Buffalo as a medical technician and paramedic before moving to Spokane about two years ago. There, he worked as an emergency room technician at Deaconess Medical Center.
He battled alcohol and drug addictions but "developed a strong Christian faith and spent the last few years of his life clean, sober and functioning well," said his adoptive father, Jules.
He also is survived by his mother, Mary Ross Piller.
Interment was in Spokane.
