George Thomas of Buffalo, an electrician, died unexpectedly Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) in Erie County Medical Center. He was 52.
Thomas was born in Fairmount, W.Va. When he was 6, his family moved to Buffalo, where he attended school.
He was an Army specialist 4 in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969 and was in the Army Reserve until 1972.
He was a member of Bennett-Wells Post 1780, American Legion.
Thomas was a journeyman electrician at Sierra Research for five years. He stopped working in 1985 because of a disability.
THe practiced Catholicism until 1997, when he became a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, the former Katie Higgins; two daughters, Jennifer A. and Michelle L., both of Buffalo; a son, Aaron of Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Shirley E. Adams of Buffalo; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in White Rock Baptist Church, 480 E. Utica St.
