The Section VI Football Federation's postseason begins with semifinals Friday and Saturday. Meanwhile, 10 more teams will compete in Section VI's consolation bowl games.
The Section VI Cross Country Championships are Friday at 11 a.m., as eight races will take place at the Elma Meadows Golf Course. The winning teams plus the top five individuals qualify for the state championships on Saturday, Nov. 10, which are also at Elma Meadows.
The Buffalo Public Schools will hold their championship cross country meet today at 3:45 p.m. at Delaware Park.
Three Niagara Frontier League teams will play at an NFL site when the Section VI Class A boys soccer final four takes place this evening at Lew-Port. NFL champion Lockport will attempt to beat Kenmore East -- which went to the state final four last year -- for the third time this season at 6 p.m. Sixth-seeded Grand Island, which handed Lockport its only loss in the regular season, faces perennial final four team Clarence, the second seed, at 8 p.m. The Class A and B championships will be held Saturday at Lancaster at 2 p.m. The C (7 p.m.) and D (5) titles will be determined Thursday at Olean.
The Section VI girls soccer championships will be held Saturday. The Class A and B title games are at Wilson, while the C and D games are at Franklinville.
The Msgr. Martin Association boys soccer championship will be played Thursday evening at 7 at Canisius College.
The Msgr. Martin Association girls soccer semifinals are Thursday, with the winners playing for the championship at 2 p.m. Sunday at the West Seneca Soccer Fields.
The Section VI field hockey tournament began Monday and continues through Saturday night, when the Class C (5 p.m.), B (7) and A (9) championships will be held at Canisius College.

The Buffalo Bills Coach of the Week for Week Eight is Dan McGrath of Depew after the Wildcats upended Lancaster, 21-20, in the teams' annual rivalry game. The Redskins had been ranked first in the state in Class AA and first among large schools in Western New York.
Senior soccer players who receive first- or second-team all-star honors from their league and are interested in playing soccer in college are invited to try out for the Western New York Exceptional Senior Games. Tryouts are Wednesday, Nov. 7 (girls at 5:30 p.m., boys at 7:30) and Saturday, Nov. 8 (girls at 5:45 p.m., boys at 7:45) at the North Amherst Recreation Center, 4415 Millersport Highway.
