LEON W. STRANC

A memorial service for Leon W. Stranc, 83, a former Buffalo-area resident, was held Friday in Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, Oceanside, Calif.

Stranc died Oct. 20, 2001, in his home in Escondido, Calif.

Born in Cheektowaga, he attended Cheektowaga School 10 and Depew High School.

A career military man, he joined the Army Air Forces in 1940 and served for 23 years, retiring as an Air Force master sergeant.

Returning from service, he worked as an occupational therapist at Buffalo Psychiatric Center.

He retired in 1976 and moved from West Seneca to Escondido. He served as general manager of the Masonic Lodge in Escondido for 15 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Deborah Daehn of Cheektowaga; two sisters, Natalie Kubiak of Sun City, Calif., and Mary Mielcarek of Cheektowaga; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
