Two counties in Western New York will receive state grants to investigate and remediate brownfields for redevelopment.
Chautauqua County will receive $150,000 to investigate the former Roblin Steel site in Dunkirk, which was once part of a larger industrial complex. The county hopes to redevelop the site for industrial use.
Niagara County will use an $82,500 grant to investigate possible contamination at the former Flintoke site in the City of Lockport. The county plans to develop the six-acre parcel -- formerly a felt and composite laminate plant that is now in disrepair -- into a park.
