A graveside service for Albert E. Hedger, a retired Buffalo insurance company engineer and auditor, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the family plot in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
Hedger died unexpectedly Oct. 22, 2001, in his home in Glens Falls. He was 91.
Born in Peterborough, Ont., he came to Buffalo at the age of 14 to live with his sister and go to school.
He was a graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School and attended the University of Buffalo. He served in the Navy as a radio technician in the Pacific during World War II.
Hedger worked as an engineer and auditor for several insurance companies, including Merchants Mutual and Continental Casualty, from which he retired in 1975.
A former resident of Depew and Eggertsville, he moved to Glens Falls in 1968.
He was a member of Senate Lodge 456, F&AM.
He and Leta M. Back were married in 1932. She died in 1987.
Surviving are a son, Donald K. of Eden; a daughter, Nancy Smith of Snyder; a sister, Emily Williams of Ramona, Calif.; a longtime companion, Marion Conklin of Queensbury; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
