Millicent B. Strong, a former Buffalo resident and retired Quackenbush Co. office manager, died Tuesday (Oct. 23, 2001) in John Knox Village, Pompano Beach, Fla., after a brief illness. She was 100.
Born Millicent Brocklehurst in Eastleigh, England, she moved to Buffalo in 1913. She attended school in the city.
She married Orrin M. Strong in 1924.
Mrs. Strong worked as an office manager and secretary for Quackenbush Co. on Franklin Street for 35 years.
Her husband died in 1950, and she retired from Quackenbush in 1967. In 1975, she moved to Pompano Beach, where she was a member of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church.
She was a longtime member of Highland Court 132, Order of Amaranth, joining in 1945. She also was past grand royal matron of the Order of Amaranth for New York State.
Mrs. Strong enjoyed traveling to Europe, Africa and Asia. She also loved to knit.
She is survived by a son, Robert O. of Pompano Beach; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and burial will be scheduled in Forest Lawn.
