Jerome D. Lewis of East Amherst, a retired Veterans Administration lawyer, died Saturday (Oct. 27, 2001) in Sheridan Manor Nursing Home, Town of Tonawanda. He was 97.

Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Masten Park High School and the University of Buffalo Law School. He served in the Army during World War II.

Lewis wrote manuals for pilots for Curtiss-Wright and also worked at Spaulding Coal before beginning his career with the VA.

He was a member of Troop I Post, American Legion.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda L. Ernst of East Amherst; a grandson; and a granddaughter.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn.
