A Mass of Christian Burial for Jacqueline L. West, 73, a retired practical nurse, was offered Monday in St. Martin de Porres Church. Burial was in Forest Lawn.
Mrs. West died at home Oct. 18, 2001, after a brief illness.
Born Jacqueline White in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Fosdick-Masten High School and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked for many years at Millard Fillmore Hospital. After retirement from there in 1968, she worked as a private-duty nurse.
She was a dedicated member of St. Martin de Porres Church, serving on its Parish Council and singing in the church choir.
She was known for her gourmet cooking, and she loved bowling, knitting, decorating, gardening, and traveling with family and friends. She was a prolific reader and accumulated an extensive library.
Her husband of 55 years, Leinster West II, died in 2000.
Survivors include her mother, Bessie Carlisle of Buffalo; three daughters, Renee Bynum of Plano, Texas, and Rochelle Jackson and Adrienne Nelson, both of Buffalo; a son, Leinster "Dinny" West III of Buffalo; 15 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
