League leaders

Niagara County dominated 2001 Western New York Outdoor Pistol League team results and Ten-X Club members led in individual shooter awards, which will be given today during the league's annual awards meeting and brunch held at 11 a.m. at Fontana's Banquet Center, 2440 Clinton St. in West Seneca.

Niagara County shooters took Gold Division firsts in .22 Caliber Actual, Handicap and Center Fire competitions. Gerald Ellingson represented his Ten-X Club well with first place high averages finishes in both .22 Caliber and Center Fire Open competitions. Clifton Faulring, also of Ten-X, got firsts in both Master divisions for .22 and center fire shooting.

Debby Hahn, Lockport team member, won High Lady Average for .22 caliber competition; William Perry of Ten-X took High Handicapped Score; and Alan Walker of Niagara County received a Most Improved Shooter award, with a 30-point gain.

Line leaders

Matthew Martin of La Fayette won a $50,000 prize package with his first-place finish in Wal-Mart's Bass Fishing League divisional competition held on Chautauqua Lake last week. Martin totaled 21 pounds, 13 ounces for five bass weighed in Oct. 20 to win a Chevy Silverado and a Mercury- or Yamaha-powered Ranger 518VZ boat. He fished hard with several baits but did most of his best catching with a purple Spider Grub cast along the southeast corner of the lake.

Robert Hebb of Staunton, Va., led the Co-Angler Division with 18 pounds, 3 ounces to win a fully equipped Ranger boat.
