Town Board members will meet in special session at 3:30 p.m. Monday to adopt the 2002 town budget and capital improvement program. The meeting will be in Town Hall, 5583 Main St., Williamsville.

The Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Pepsi Center, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive. A consultant will discuss alternative strategies and policies that could form the town's new comprehensive plan.


The Common Council is expected to discuss a proposal to turn a long-vacant downtown church into offices and a venue for public performances when it meets at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Lawmakers are being asked to give a Buffalo company four additional months to finalize its redevelopment plan for the former Asbury Delaware United Method Church at Delaware Avenue and West Tupper Street.

Righteous Babe Records, the recording company owned by singer Ani DiFranco, wants to spend $1.3 million to turn part of the building into its corporate headquarters. But some lawmakers are concerned that the city might have to absorb $2.2 million for exterior repairs. They also note that the city likely would have to help with costs associated with turning part of the vacant church building into a performance space.

The Council will consider nearly 200 additional agenda items when it meets in Council Chambers on the 13th floor of City Hall.

The Common Council will hold its pre-meeting caucus at 2 p.m. Monday in Room 1417 of City Hall.
The University District Anti-Crime Task Force will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Room 1417 of City Hall.
The Joint Schools Construction Board will meet at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Room 209 of City Hall.


The Town Board will conduct a budget work session at 6 p.m. Monday in the Council office conference room in Town Hall, Broadway and Union Road.


The Town Board is holding a special meeting at 3 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, 1 Town Place, to consider a resolution for a joint application with the Town of Amherst for money to build a connecting trail system.

Orchard Park

The Orchard Park School District will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Thursday on the draft environmental impact statement for the proposed $84 million high school complex on Murphy Road. The hearing will be held in the cafeteria of Orchard Park Middle School, 60 S. Lincoln Ave.

A public referendum on the school project is expected to be held early next year.

Town of Tonawanda

The Town Board meets at 8 p.m. Monday in Town Hall, at the corner of Delaware Avenue and Delaware Road. A work session will be held at 4.

The Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School Board will hold a special work session to discuss the coming budget at 6 p.m. Monday in the administration building, 1500 Colvin Blvd., Town of Tonawanda.
