HUGH O. EDDY, CAMPSITE OWNER-OPERATOR

Hugh O. Eddy, 88, of School Road, died Friday (Oct. 26, 2001) in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, following a lengthy illness.

Eddy owned and operated the Woodstream Campsite in his hometown of Gainesville for 37 years.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Silver Springs for more than 50 years.

Eddy was a member and past commander of the Wallace-Jeffers Post, American Legion, in Castile. He also was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 560 in Warsaw, the Wiscoy Conservation Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a charter member of the Campground Owners of New York.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Vera Jenison; two sons, Owen of Castile and Darryl of Gainesville; a sister, Teddy Boatfield of Castile; and seven grandchildren.

The American Legion will hold services at 3 p.m. Sunday, followed by a funeral at 6:45 in the Robinson & Hackemer Funeral Home, 246 N. Main St., Warsaw. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Gainesville.
