Stocks of Buffalo companies rose this week, led by vacuum and heat-transfer equipment maker Graham Corp. and Ecology and Environment, a provider of environmental consulting and testing services.
The Buffalo Bloomberg Stock Index climbed 4.71, or 2.7 percent, to 178.68. The index has dropped 7.9 percent so far this year.
Graham gained $5.75, or 70 percent, to $14.
Ecology and Environment rose $1.95, or 20 percent, to $11.50.
Among shares that declined, Bethlehem Steel Corp. fell 6 cents, or 14 percent, to 37 cents. Columbus McKinnon Corp. fell 95 cents, or 11 percent, to $8.05.
The Buffalo Bloomberg Stock Index, an employee-weighted list of companies with operations in the region, was developed with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1994. The index set a 52-week high of 208.54 on May 22, and a 52-week low of 159.28 on Sept. 24.
