MARY ELIZABETH HOUSLER, LONGTIME NURSE

Mary Elizabeth Housler, 83, of Fort Myers, Fla., a nurse in Buffalo for many years, died Oct. 17, 2001, in Hope Hospice, Fort Myers.

She was born Mary Elizabeth Brace and grew up in Randolph, moving to Buffalo to attend E.J. Meyer Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.

She was married to Harold V. Housler of Buffalo.

The Houslers lived in Buffalo until the late 1950s, when they moved to the Town of Tonawanda.

She worked for many years in Meyer Hospital, now Erie County Medical Center, and finished her career in the early 1980s at Children's Hospital. Later, she lived in Lockport and Kenmore before relocating to Florida a year ago.

A member of the Meyer Memorial Alumni Association, she was active in religious education in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Fort Myers.

Her husband is deceased. Surviving are three sons, Harold J. of Rochester, Robert A. of Fort Myers and Thomas B. of Bonita Springs, Fla.

Prayers will be said at 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the Chapel of St. John Newman at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
