A public hearing concerning the draft environmental impact study for the proposed $84 million Orchard Park High School complex on Murphy Road will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The project features construction of a 474,300-square-foot building, 13 multipurpose athletic fields, a track and football field, cross-country trails, driveways and parking. The complex would be located on a 134-acre parcel the district now owns; the project would involve approximately 70 acres of the site.
The district said an existing building on the site previously occupied by the Sisters of Mercy will remain and likely be used for administrative offices. If voters approve the project, the new facility may require road improvements to Murphy Road and several nearby intersections.
A public vote on the school will not be held until early next year, with a date expected to be finalized later this year.
The district is accepting public comment on the project through Nov. 16. Comments should be directed to Superintendent Charles Stoddart at the district's administrative offices on Baker Road.
The public hearing will be held in the cafeteria of Orchard Park Middle School at 60 S. Lincoln Ave.
