Donald T. Mellin Jr., 53, a metalworker and electrician, died Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2001) in Wyoming County Community Hospital, Warsaw, after a long illness.

Born and reared in Buffalo, Mellin was an Army veteran and lived in West Valley before moving to Gainesville about 12 years ago.

From about 1990 to 2000, he worked for Sabin Metals in Scottsville. Before that, he worked for Stylex Homes in Scottsville as an electrician.

Mellin enjoyed carpentry and tending his garden.

A former member of Perry Church of God, he most recently attended Arcade Church of God.

Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Emma Stocking Mellin; his mother, Joy Schall Mellin of Gainesville; four brothers, Gary and Kenneth, both of Gainesville, Allan of Opp, Ala., and Larry of Bradford, Pa.; and four sisters, Linda Hall and Kristine Barrett, both of Perry, Penny Pope of Bliss and Cindy Bennett of Gainesville.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, 98 N. Main St., Perry.
