Services for Roger Harold Flood, a retired Airco Carbon Co. employee, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Otto Redanz Funeral Home, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery, Pekin.
Flood, 79, died Sunday (Oct. 21, 2001) at home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Niagara Falls, he was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.
Flood served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946, including duty during World War II as a yeoman first class aboard the USS Stockton.
After the war, he resumed his employment with Airco Carbon, retiring in 1984 as foreman inspector in the quality control department after 44 years of service.
Flood was a longtime member of the LaSalle Sportsmen's Club. He enjoyed hunting and bowling.
He and his wife of 55 years, the former Lois Waldheim, were members of a dance club with which they did ballroom and square dancing. He enjoyed reading and solving crossword puzzles.
He was a member of First Christian Church of Niagara Falls.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Roger H. Jr. of Midland, Mich.; two daughters, Karen Green and Cheryl Rafferty, both of Niagara Falls; a brother, Alan of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a sister, Ruth Ann Landon of Fairfield Bay, Ark.; seven grandchildren and a great-grandson.
