STEPHEN J. BRENECKI

Stephen J. Brenecki, 81, of Fredonia, a retired railroad worker, died Monday (Oct. 22, 2001) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, after a brief illness.

Born in Olean, he served in the Army during World War II.

He was a laborer for the New York Central and Penn Central railroads and Conrail in the Dunkirk yards for more than 30 years.

Brenecki was a member of the First Ward Falcons Club in Dunkirk and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fredonia.

He and Florence Szpak were married in 1948.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Mark S. of Fredonia; two daughters, Mary Schrader of Dunkirk and Carol Gens of Arcade; a brother, Dimitri of Niagara Falls; a sister, Katherine Hoskiewicz of Waterbury, Vt.; and five grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Church, East Main Street. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery.
