Richard L. Lewis of Cheektowaga died Saturday (Oct. 20, 2001) after a brief illness. He was 74.
Lewis retired in 1986 from Bell Aerospace, where he was a scheduler. He later worked part-time for Mancuso Steel and Voss Dental Lab.
Born in Buffalo, he attended Bennett High School and Fosdick-Masten Park High School. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in postwar Japan from 1945 to 1946.
Lewis was a deacon at the Harris Hill Baptist Church and was active in church activities for many years.
He was an avid fisherman and was known for his sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Shirley Prise; three daughters, Pam Mamon of Guelph, Ont., Kathy Meyer of Lockport and Tammy Crump of Charlotte, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Carlton A. Ullrich Funeral Home, 855 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
