NIAGARA FALLS -- Hyde Park Golf Course will remain open for play through Nov. 12. The city will thank patrons and celebrate Veterans Day by waiving greens fees on Nov. 12.

Hospice care is topic of programs

LEWISTON -- Mount St. Mary's Hospital and Health Center, in conjunction with Niagara Hospice, is offering two programs today on the topic of Hospice care.

A free program, "Begin the Conversation," will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 249 at the hospital, 5300 Military Road. Donald Shawver, a registered nurse and Niagara Hospice volunteer speaker, will discuss advanced directives, health care proxies, living wills, do-not-resuscitate orders and services offered by Niagara Hospice.

The program is presented as part of Mount St. Mary's "Health for All Seasons" education series. To register for the free program, call the Community Health Education office at 298-2145 or visit the hospital's Web site at www.msmh.org.

Earlier in the day, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., in celebration of Spiritual Care Week, Niagara Hospice and Mount St. Mary's are sponsoring a ministerial breakfast at Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport. The Rev. Michael Burzynski, pastor of St. Mary of the Cataract Catholic Church in Niagara Falls, will share his reflections on the theme for Spiritual Care Week 2001 -- "Valuing Life's Passages." All Niagara County clergy, chaplains and pastoral visitors are invited to attend.

Three shopping sprees offered

TOWN OF NIAGARA -- Prime Outlets Mall will team with the United Way of Niagara to offer three shopping sprees at the mall. Winners will be identified at the campaign luncheon on Nov. 9.

Shopping sprees of $1,500, $1,000 and $500 will be awarded. No purchase or donation is required.

To be eligible to win, local companies and organizations are asked to invite a United Way of Niagara representative into their workplace for a 15-minute United Way presentation.
