Gerald E. Shannon, a retired autoworker, died Monday (Oct. 22, 2001) in Medina Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was 60.

Born in Lockport, Shannon had resided in Middleport for the past 30 years. He had previously lived in Gasport.

Shannon worked as an assembler at Harrison Radiator Division of General Motors Corp. in Lockport. He retired in 1997 after 35 years of employment. He also operated B.J.'s Ceramics on Carmen Road.

Shannon enjoyed camping, traveling and raising Siberian huskies.

His wife, Barbara Jean Cassett Shannon, died in 1996.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald of Gasport and Brian of Lockport; a daughter, Kathy Lord of Middleport; a sister, Marilyn Nerber of Gasport; and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport. Inurnment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Barker.
