Roma A. Jordan, 78, died Sunday (Oct. 21, 2001) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after having been ill for several months.
She was born Roma Murray in Greensboro, N.C., where she graduated from Greensboro High School and attended Greensboro College. She moved to Niagara Falls in 1946 and Lewiston in 1996.
In Niagara Falls, Mrs. Jordan was a longtime member of Pierce Avenue Presbyterian Church, where she was an elder. She taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the Women's Association and the IXL Sunday school class.
She was a 50-year member of Flagler Chapter 355, Order of the Eastern Star; the 49ers Mothers Club; the Sunshine Club; and the Fifty Plus Club. In Lewiston, she was a member of the Lewiston Seniors.
She was the widow of Jack E. Jordan, James H. Ashton and Harry L. Hughes Jr.
Survivors include a son, Paul Hughes of Midlothian, Va.; a daughter, Lynda Merry of Niagara Falls; two stepsons, John Jordan of North Tonawanda and Duane Jordan of the Town of Niagara; a brother, Robert Murray of Concord, N.C.; a sister, Roberta Barrow of Greensboro; four grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Otto Redanz Funeral Home LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
