Helena Clara Anna Kochalski Brown, a church volunteer and child-care worker, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2000) in Sheehan Memorial Hospital. The Buffalo resident was 86.

Born in Michigan, she came to Buffalo as a small child.

She was a member of the Catholic Women at St. Mary's Church and later at St. Ann's Church and performed numerous volunteer duties, including sorting clothes, cooking for bingo, cleaning and helping out at fund-raising events.

She was a child-care worker and baby sitter for various individuals and agencies and provided love and nurturing for all those in her care.

Her husband of 50 years, William Brown, died in 1993.

She is survived by a brother, John Henry Condon of Goldsboro, N.C.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Monday in St. Ann's Church, Broadway and Emslie Street. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
