Emily R. Davis, a longtime resident of Alden and Bowmansville, died Sept. 6, 2001, in San Diego. She was 92.

Active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Mrs. Davis was the regional manager for Tri-Chem Liquid Embroidery for many years and worked for the Curtiss-Wright Co. during World War II.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.

She and her late husband, Harold, enjoyed square-dancing and travel.

Mrs. Davis was a 57-year member of the Alden Chapter 401, Order of the Eastern Star, which merged with Amherst Chapter 555. She served as chapter matron in 1957 and held many offices over the years.

She is survived by a daughter, Lois B. Howard of San Diego; a son, Ronald Batchelor of Kelso, Wash.; a stepdaughter, Jean Acker of Clarence; a stepson, Harry Davis of Atlanta; one sister, Lois Haines of Ontario; a brother, Nelson Rathburn of Ontario; 20 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. next Saturday in Bowmansville United Methodist Church, 5344 Genesee St., Bowmansville.
