WALK, RUN TO HONOR SLAIN OFFICER

A 5K walk and run to honor the achievements of slain Buffalo Police Officer Charles "Skip " McDougald are set for Nov. 3.

Proceeds from the event will be placed in a scholarship fund at Daemen College. The fund-raiser starts at 10 a.m. on the front lawn of the college, 4380 Main St., Amherst, with a "dash for kids" followed by the main event at 11. For information on registration, call 839-8212.

McDougald was gunned down April 9, 1997, by Jonathan L. Parker, who was later convicted and sentenced to life in prison.

International Adoption Fair scheduled

The Asian Connection of Western New York will hold an International Adoption Fair on Nov. 3 from noon to 5 p.m. in the International Institute, 864 Delaware Ave. It is free and open to the public.

The fair will feature experts in five panel discussions on topics for adoptive parents, prospective adoptive parents and family members.
