Brush up on "The Hound of the Baskervilles" and head down to Higher Grounds coffeehouse in Amherst at 7 p.m. Thursday when the Round the Fire mystery discussion group celebrates the centennial of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle mystery. Dee Rossi Script will give the history behind the beloved Sherlock Holmes story, and then it's an open discussion where fans and readers can share their thoughts. And don't be afraid to bring the youngsters. "Hound," she said, is particularly inviting for younger readers. "The visualization of his writing is supreme. It grabs you. And that makes it a good thing for kids to read." Round the Fire, an offshoot of the Irish Secret Society (the Sherlock Holmes group of Buffalo) meets monthly in Higher Grounds, 3622 Sheridan Drive, Amherst, to share their love of reading mysteries. Call 884-6393.
