Dr. Meyer B. Strauss, 74, of the Town of Tonawanda, a retired dentist and past president of Temple Shaarey Zedek, died Wednesday (Oct. 17, 2001) in Hospice Buffalo after a long illness.
The Buffalo native was a graduate of the former Fosdick-Masten Park High School, the University of Buffalo and UB Dental School.
He served in the Army at the end of World War II.
He practiced dentistry for 42 years until his retirement in 1994.
Strauss was a life member of the Eighth District Dental Society and a fellow of the International College of Dentists.
He was a gardener and tennis player. He played tennis until about two years ago.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, the former Suzanne Shapiro; two daughters, Barbara Herman of Rockaway, N.J., and Deborah of Brooklyn; a son, Jeffrey of Chicago; two sisters, Ethel Ertis of Kinston, N.C., and Pearl Keller of the Town of Tonawanda; and a grandson.
A graveside service was held today in Pine Hill Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
