A Mass of Christian Burial for Norbert J. Mach, 78, of Cheektowaga, retired supervisor of the pipe-fitting department at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in Infant of Prague Catholic Church, 921 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga.
Prayers will be said at 9:15 in Amigone Funeral Home, 569 Cleveland Drive. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
Mach, who was born in Buffalo, died Thursday (Sept. 27, 2001) at home after a short illness.
He served as a staff sergeant in the Army during World War II.
He worked at the medical center for 17 years until his retirement in 1988.
Mach was a life member of Leonard Post Jr. Post 6251, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and was a member of the 451st Bomber Group Association.
He enjoyed remodeling, home repair and woodworking.
His wife of 54 years, the former Shirley G. Smith, died in 1998.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Schaemann of Lancaster and Carol Bartelt of Cheektowaga; four sons, Norbert James of Depew, Robert of Lockport, and William and Michael, both of Cheektowaga; a brother, Joseph of Cheektowaga; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
